Mrs. Taylor

Librarian

Pat Taylor is our librarian at Galesburg –Augusta and she has been at G-A for 38 years!  She says being a librarian runs in her family: Her mother was the public librarian in Galesburg for many years and her sister is the librarian at G-A High School.  Mrs. Taylor has a son who is a high school teacher and a coach at Plainwell, and she feels lucky and blessed to have two precious granddaughters.  Mrs. Taylor enjoys reading, sewing, and spending time at the beach.

 

 

Mrs. Sexton

Intermediate School Counselor

 

Mrs. Sexton is the Intermediate School Counselor.  She shares her time working with the students at the Middle School and at the IS.  Before coming to G-A, Mrs. Sexton worked at Borgess for 18 years providing treatment for children and families. She also spent three years in private practice before joining G-A. Mrs. Sexton has a husband, Jim, and two sons; one is a chef and one is earning a degree in education.  She enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, sailing, and spending time with family, friends, and golden retrievers.

 

Mr. Merasco

Physical Education

Mr. Merasco teaches Physical Education.  His hobbies include sports and fitness activities, watching college football and basketball.  Coaching all sports and cheering for   Notre Dame are among his favorite things to do ~ Go Irish!   Mr. Merasco has a strong desire to be positive influence on the students and athletes that he works with on a daily basis.  He attended SW Michigan College for two years then graduated from WMU.  Mr. Merasco earned his Masters Degree in Administration in 1997 from WMU.

Ms. Hood

Art

Mrs. Hood has been teaching elementary music in G-A for 15 years.  She has also taught at Western Michigan University and at KVCC. Mrs. Hood is a long-time member of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert Planning Committee, a group of teachers who help the KSO plan the student lessons for their concert preparation.  Mrs. Hood has been trained in Education for the Art's Aesthetic Education program and works with other trained G-A staff and EFA Teaching Artists to prepare our 2nd graders for three annual Asthetic Education experiences.

Mrs. Hood has two children.  She has a son, Jeffrey, a daughter, Whitney, and a husband Bruce, a photographer and video producer.  It is also "official" - Mrs. H is a true "ding-a-ling"!  She rings English handbells in the Praise Ringers at Portage United Church of Christ as her musical "hobby".

Mr. Brennan

Art

Mr. Brennan is our Intermediate Art teacher.He has been teaching Art at the Primary and Intermediate for 6 years, and has been with G-A for 11. Along with traditional art media to be creative with, he tries to incorporate technology into the art curriculum. This includes computers for drawing and editing and digital cameras.

Outside of school, Mr. Brennan and his wife keeps busy with three young children. Their school and after school activities keep the family busy, but when he does have time, he likes to take photographs, draw, ride bikes, and play video games.

Mr. Brennan earned his elementary and art degree from WMU. His masters in Educational Technology will come from Western when he finishes in the fall of 2008.
